REQUIREMENTS FOR INITIAL CERTIFICATION (CCGC)

All CCGC candidates are required to take the Professional Exam for Counselors of Problem Gamblers developed and administered by CASTLE Worldwide, Inc. . Requirements effective 1/1/89 (Revised 9/1/93 and 9/8/00)

The following requirements must be met for Initial Certification as a Certified Compulsive Gambling Counselor (CCGC):

SECTION I

A) No current history or evidence of addictive disorders involving gambling, drugs and/or alcohol.

SECTION II

A) Completion of at least 142 clock hours within a five (5) year period, referred to as the
Core Curriculum, of approved specific education as defined by the ACGCCB, The
Core Curriculum is described in Section VI, Pages 3, 4 and 5.

B) A total of 180 supervised practical training hours under qualified supervision in a
recognized treatment facility.

C) Applicants shall provide verification of their education hours.

D) Applicants shall provide verification of their supervised practical training.

E) Applicants are required to adhere to a Professional Code of Ethics.

SECTION II

A) The applicant shall have completed 750 hours paid, volunteer or combination of paid or
volunteer experience under qualified supervision within three (3) years immediately prior to date of application.

B) Applicants shall provide verification of their 750 hours paid or volunteer or
combination of experience.

C) Applicants are required to submit four (4) evaluations according to the requirements.

SECTION IV

A) The ACGCCB requires all applicants to pass a written national examination. This exam is developed and administered through CASTLE Worldwide, Inc., and is known as the Professional Exam for Counselors of Problem Gamblers.

SECTION V

A) At the ACGCCB option, a personal interview may be required,

REQUIREMENTS FOR CERTIFICATION as an ASSOCIATE COMPULSIVE GAMBLING COUNSELOR (ACGC)
1.
An individual with a certification or license in mental health or addiction would be required to take 30 hours of specific gambling education. The ACGC is designed to indicate that the applicant has acquired basic knowledge of compulsive gambling and its treatment.

2. The ACGC requires all applicants to pass a written national examination. This exam is administered through CASTLE Worldwide, Inc., and is known as the Professional Exam for Counselors of Problem Gamblers.

3. Document attendance at the following self-help meetings:

A. Six (6) Gamblers Anonymous

B. Three (3) Gam-Anon

C. Six (6) Other self-help meetings i.e. Adult Children of Compulsive Gamblers or Adult Children of Alcoholics, Narcotics Anonymous, Al-Anon or Nar-Anon.
